Basil (Tulsi) is an antiseptic herb that has been used in some Asian countries for centuries to fight microbes. Coupled with the antiseptic nature it is also a good antiviral herb. It is seen that basil can speed up recovery from illnesses. You should take fresh basil leaves for effect. Juice up some basil leaves, mix it with some honey which is anti-inflammatory in nature and takes once in the morning before breakfast and once in the evening before dinner. Camphor And Eucalyptus Oil

Burning camphor or steaming eucalyptus oil in water helps in averting the spread of any airborne diseases. This also helps in keeping the respiratory system strong. Apart from all these remedial measures, practicing the alternate nostril breathing technique or Pranayam will work wonders on your body by resisting any kind of diseases that affect your body’s immune system.

Ginger And Garlic

Ginger has been used traditionally to fight cold, congestion and some other symptoms of flu. It is also anti-inflammatory in nature. On the other hand, garlic is a very good antibiotic. It is able to kill a range of bacteria and virus due to the strong antibiotic property. It is also a good antioxidant. Combining these two amazing properties of these two spices can fight well against swine flu. You can have ginger as ginger tea. Raw garlic cloves can be chewed to have the desired result.

Gooseberry And Aloe Vera

Gooseberry taken in any form of food helps in improving your immune system markedly. Rich source of Vitamin C, Polyphemus, and scorbutic acid, gooseberry juice can be consumed twice a day for fighting infections. Drinking one teaspoon of the immunity-boosting Aloe Vera juice along with water is yet another medicinal drink that fights swine flu.

Goldenseal and Echinacea

The goldenseal her is a strong antibiotic as well as antiviral. It is used to fight several kinds of viral infections including flu. It may be able to fight the H1N1 virus that causes swine flu. Combine it with some Echinacea which is another efficient infection-fighting herb, and you will get a potent combination that will fight the H1N1 virus effectively. Both are available as extracts.


Giloi is a commonly available plant in many areas. Take a one-foot long branch of giloi, add five to six leaves of Tulsi and boil in water for 15-20 minutes or long enough to allow the water to extract its properties. Add black pepper and sendha, rock or black salt, or Misri according to taste. Let it cool a bit and drink this kadha (concoction) while still warm. It will work wonders for your immunity. If giloi plant is not available, get processed giloi powder from Hamdard or others, and concoct a similar drink once a day.

Turmeric in Milk

If you are not allergic to milk then a glass of warm water with some turmeric added to it can fight the infection. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant in nature. Moreover, the curcumin present in turmeric is antibiotic nature.
